The Sapienza Herbarium Museum (RO) takes part in the massive digitization project of the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC), the first Italian biodiversity research center supported by the PNRR Next Generation - EU.
According to the agreement between the University of Padua and Sapienza University of Rome (Polo Museale Sapienza), the material stored in RO will be shipped to the botanical section of the Museum of Natural History of the University of Florence in late January. There, it will be possible to digitize up to 12,000 specimens per day, for a total of 650,000 dried specimens.
The staff of the Herbarium Museum is currently completing the documentation required for the project's as well as the preparation of the associated collections.
